Prof Everaldo Attard

Pharmacist, Professor, Director of the Institute of Earth Systems Prof Attard graduated with honours in pharmacy at the University of Malta (1994) and later furthered his studies on Maltese aromatic and medicinal plants by undertaking a M.Sc. in Agricultural and Veterinary Pharmacy (1995). He furthered his specialization and obtained a Doctorate in Agriculture from the same University in 2001. He was employed with the University as a research assistant (1995) and in 1998 appointed within the academic stream. Dr. Attard was a part-time consultant with the Department of Plant Health (2000-2004). In 2007 he was officially recognised by the Medicines Authority and appointed as the herbal consultant in assessing herbal medicinal products. Since then, he has been the Maltese delegate on the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products and the Homeopathic Medicinal Products Working Group.

Expert in medical market supervision for herbal, homeopathic and veterinary medicinal products Dr Astrid Obmann studied pharmacy and, after working as an employed pharmacist in public pharmacies in Vienna, completed a doctorate in natural sciences (specialising in pharmacognosy/phytochemistry) at the University of Vienna. Since 2010, she has been working as an expert in the Herbal, Homeopathic and Veterinary Medicinal Products Department of AGES Medizinmarktaufsicht (AGES)/Bundesamt für Sicherheit im Gesundheitswesen (BASG). She acts as Austria's alternate in the HMPC, delegate in the HMPWG and is involved in various committees at national level. She is also a lecturer at the Postgraduate Centre of the University of Vienna.
Dr. Bernd Roether

Head of authorisation department Dr Roether is heading the division of DRA, which comprises the subunits Country Management and Dossier Management/Medical Writing. Furthermore he is visiting lecturer at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University Bonn (DGRA Master Study Course, Module 4 - Phytotherapy/Homoeopathy) since 2003.

After studying food chemistry at the Universities of Stuttgart and Hohenheim, Ms Anke Steuber has been employed by PhytoLab GmbH & Co. KG SINCE 1999. She has headed the Regulatory Affairs department there since 2006 and the Stability department since 2020. Other areas of expertise include delimitation issues between food and medicinal products and the handling of regulatory issues relating to food. She is an authorised cross-checking expert for the specialist area of ‘Analysis of plant-based foods and their raw materials (plant parts, extracts)’.

Dr Friederike Stolte studied biology and food chemistry at the Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, where she completed her doctorate in pharmaceutical biology. She then worked as a research assistant at the Zentralinstitut Arzneimittelforschung GmbH (ZA). Since 2000, she has been working as a quality assessor in the field of ‘Herbal and Traditional Medicinal Products’. She is a member of the Quality Drafting Group of the HMPC and is involved in the CEP procedures at the EDQM.
