Dr. Gilbert Koch
Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology, University Children’s Hospital Basel, SWITZERLAND
Senior Research Fellow in Modeling and Simulation Dr G. Koch is an interdisciplinary scientist specialized in pharmacometrics utilizing mechanism-based mathematical modeling, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimal control theory. His main research topics are on modeling complex pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic data, e.g., originating from (pre-term) neonates, advancing pharmacometrics modeling by combining different methodologies via technology transfer, and developing digital decision support tools to improve digital health care. Dr Koch has extensive academic experience and simultaneously industry experience from start-up companies including digital medical device regulations. He is convinced that the future of his field lays in the combination of well-established models, inclusion of knowledge from domain experts such as clinicians, and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Britta Steffens
Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology, University Children’s Hospital Basel, SWITZERLAND
Scientific Researcher Dr Steffens is an interdisciplinary scientific researcher with mathematical and statistical background and more than 12 years of university-based experience in statistical modeling, pattern recognition, time series analysis of linear and circular data, as well as (undergraduate) teaching. During the last 4 years she has gained special knowledge in pharmacometrics modeling and statistical analysis of pre-clinical and clinical data from neonates, infants, children, adolescents and adults, and got insight into machine learning approaches.

Pharmacometric modeling in Monolix - various (guided) hands-on units included. After having participated in the hands-on course you will be prepared to tackle real-world challenges in pharmacometrics, ultimately improving your contributions to disease modeling and drug development projects.
The training course aims to provide you - the participants - with a comprehensive understanding of pharmacometrics and its application in disease modeling and in drug development using the software Monolix.
On day I, the two experts start with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of modeling, including pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling in the non-linear mixed effects modeling framework and the software Monolix. Building on this foundation, you will delve into PK model building and covariate selection as well as model diagnostics with the overall aim to develop robust and predictive models.
Another focus will be on pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PKPD) modeling and the application in Monolix. This day concludes with good modeling practices that are essential for the development and validation of models.
On the second day, you will learn about exposure-response analysis and dose simulations, with an introduction to the Simulx software.
Case studies and various hands-on units provide an opportunity to apply and deepen the knowledge gained, enhancing your skills in PMX and preparing you for real-world scenarios.
